Do you have any key memories or moments from your childhood where you knew marketing was something you wanted to pursue?

Watching The Devil Wears Prada and seeing the assistant arranging the photos strategically on the table, I knew in that moment that my dream job would be related to the magazine/arts industry. My interest in marketing appeals to the more technical aspects of the industry.

What’s an album you’ve been enjoying lately?

SOS by SZA. Favorite song has to be Snooze.

What are you looking forward to most in your time with PATTERN?

I’m most looking forward to learning from the PATTERN team and my peers. I’m also excited to grow my hard skills as a creative and learn from people who love what they do.

What’s your coffee order?

Matcha with strawberry cold foam.

Describe your aesthetic in three words, go:

Confident, Fun, Clean.

What song is your anthem right now?

Any song by Charlie Puth. I just think he’s so cool.

What are you hoping to get out of this internship?

I really want to develop my video skills on all fronts. I’m excited to attend and film the many events that PATTERN offers. Getting out there will allow me to get better as a videographer. I want to try new things, try new software, and just get better overall.

What is a strength of yours? A weakness?

I’m super organized; I wouldn’t say I have OCD but I also kind of do…so I kind of like to stick to what I know, which I’d say is my weakness. That’s one of the reasons I’m doing this internship – to get out there and try something new.

What is a goal you want to accomplish before the end of the year?

I’m working on a bullet journal this year with the theme “taking risks.” So I’d like to keep getting out of my shell for the rest of 2023.

What is a moment you’ve captured that has stuck with you?

I recently got a drone, and I’ve gotten shots that feel so amazing. Creating shots like that, that can have an impact, is such a cool feeling–going to events and capturing the moment, making something cool out of that that makes people feel like they were there.

What song is your anthem right now?

Anything from Laurel Hell by Mitski.

What are you hoping to get out of this internship?

I want to improve so much that when I look back at my work from the start, I don’t like it anymore.

What is a strength of yours? A weakness?

My directness – I’m not afraid to speak my mind. Sometimes I can come off too strong, though, so I’d say it’s also my weakness.

What inspires you?

Really small, human moments of joy and optimism.

What’s the story behind your nickname?

I worked at Starbucks for two years and there was another person named Nicole. Because I had pink hair at the time, I became Pink. I wear the color almost every day and I love it, so the name stuck.

What is one place that you would consider a hidden gem in Indy?

Urban Hippie off College. The woman who owns the boutique, Daisha, has created such an amazing atmosphere and beautiful clothing selection. My entire closet is from here.

What piece of advice do you carry with you in your photography?

This past season, I shadowed Jeanie Stehr, a previous PATTERN photography intern who now works with Coco Rocha. She had multiple test shoots, and she told me so much about posing a model: having all limbs visible, making sure the model looks next to the photographer rather than actually off to the side for looking-off-to-the-side poses.

What is an album you’ve been enjoying lately?

I’ve been a big fan of Young the Giant for years now, but every single summer, I come back to Mirror Master – brings out good summer vibes every time.

What are you a connoisseur of?

I’m a big fan of tattoos. If you have a tattoo on your body, I’m going to be the first to notice and ask about it every time.

What is your favorite camera to shoot on?

The body I have now is the best I’ve had so far. I shoot on a Canon EOS 6D Mark II. 35mm is my go-to because it has good focus and allows you to get candids if the subject is moving.

What piece of advice do you carry with you in your writing?

My freshman year of high school, I stumbled upon these words: “As long as you know who you are, you can write about anything you want.” I’ve since realized that writing allows you to figure out who you are, too, which is the beauty of writing and art in general.

Do you have any key memories or moments from your childhood where you knew writing was something you wanted to pursue?

My fourth grade teacher was instrumental in inspiring and cementing my love for writing. She’d assign these totally outside-the-box prompts and let us take it whichever direction we felt compelled. I think my turning point was this assignment that had us create our own mini newspaper; I added a front page, a crossword section, a sports section–the whole gamut. And she chose mine to display to the class…so at the ripe age of nine, I realized writing was something I couldn’t do without.

What song is your anthem right now?

Gotta be Gypsy, Fleetwood Mac.

What is your favorite literary device?

I love a good double entendre. List parallelism is balm for the writer’s soul, too.

Do you have a favorite book?

Actually, yes. The Book Thief. I want to figure out an accordion tattoo eventually. Current read is The Idiot by Elif Batuman which I’m loving so far.
