Meet our Spring ’24 Interns!

New year, new interns! This week we welcomed three new faces to our PATTERN team. Get to know more about our Spring ’24 interns.

My name is Frances Dimaranan, and I’m one of the graphic design interns here at PATTERN. I’m a junior at Herron, majoring in visual communication design.

What is your ideal gig?

FD: I would like to work independently and do freelance work for many different clients. I don’t have a single one in mind, but I would like to travel.

What are you looking forward to for your PATTERN internship?

FD: I’m looking forward to learning more about the creatives here in Indianapolis and educating myself on the creative space here.

What is your Roman Empire?

FD: Learning about different countries historically that’s the thing I really like to do. Right now, I’m really into Japan.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Indy?

FD: It depends on my mood. I love Korean barbecue, so Bando is one of my favorites.

If you could switch places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?

FD: I’d like to be Dua Lipa. She’d be fun.

My name is Selena Ward, and I will be a photography intern here at PATTERN. I recently graduated from IUPUI’s Herron School of Art + Design, where I majored in photography.

What is your favorite creative exhibition space in Indy?

SW: I really like Kan-Kan Cinema. Their drinks are good and the service is super friendly, and it’s a nice place for a date night to watch a creative movie.

What is your dream gig?

SW: I would love to photograph one of my favorite musical artists, maybe someone like Denzel Curry or Bjork.

Where is your favorite coffee spot in Indy?

SW: I’m not much of a coffee drinker but any cat cafe I’m down to go to.

What is your Roman Empire?

SW: Early 2000’s pop culture. It’s messy. It was before everything was so filtered. I have flashes of it from my childhood, and I enjoy revisiting it as an adult.

If you were a piece of furniture, what would you be?

SW: I think I would be a cat tower, so then my cat would actually snuggle with me.

My name is Jacob Chaves, and I’m here at PATTERN as one of the graphic design interns.

What is your favorite creative exhibition space in Indy?

JC: So far I’d have to say The Harrison Center, especially with their First Fridays. Also shoutout to Mystery Fun Club down in Fountain Square.

What is your ideal gig?

JC: I’d be open to working at any creative design agency where I get a variety of clients but still get to work in a creative space.

What are you looking forward to for your PATTERN internship?

JC: I’m really looking forward to being in a place where creativity is the sole mission.
