Why are you coming back?

One summer with PATTERN just wasn’t enough! My time at PATTERN was eye opening, to say the least, and I am so thankful for the friends, colleagues, and industry connections I made during the last few months. Even in the midst of a pandemic, I accomplished a lot, learned a ton and I want more than anything to keep that momentum going. This program made me see many facets of the Indianapolis creative community that I did not know existed. Overall, I am committed to PATTERN’s mission of finding, fostering, and amplifying the voices of all types of artists and creators, and I am ready to see where another semester can take me.

What are some goals you want to accomplish this semester?

Some goals for the next few months include working on creating connections with creatives, photographers, models and showrooms in a bigger market, like Chicago, in order to strength my portfolio. Additionally, I want to hone my creative process a bit more and work on conceptualizing very specific fashion editorials to create the best possible narrative experience for my viewer!

Why are you coming back?

And just like that I am back in the office! Or soon to be at least. My small break in-
between sessions flew by and I feel refreshed and eager to get back to creating! I have put together a small list of things I want to focus on this time around, now that I have had all summer to learn how things flow here at Pattern.

What are some goals you want to accomplish this semester?

1. I want to plan more creative shoots. Now that I have had an entire summer to figure out the odds and ends of putting a shoot together, I want to really push myself creatively. I want to be doing shoots that have never been done before!

2. I want to continue to network and meet creatives in Indy. The people I met through PATTERN and the collaborations that came from it is what surprised me the most about my internship experience. I had no idea how wonderful the artistic community was here, and I am looking forward to meeting more people like me!

3. I also hope to expand my network past Indianapolis. I am eager to connect with models, photographers, hair and makeup artists in the Midwest. Chicago and Cincinnati are definitely on my list for the fall session.

4. Because of the pandemic, everything I did was highly focused on the digital magazine. I am so happy I am able to stick around and see the time and effort that goes into the print magazine.

5. Lastly, I am eager to step outside of my comfort zone and develop my skills in areas that are not photography. I am hoping to get more social media experience and create graphics, animations and other content for our socials. Being a PATTERN intern prepared me to be a part of the fashion industry in ways I didn’t even know were possible. Now that I have the confidence in myself and my style, I am eager to see where this semester takes me!
