CreativeMornings: Spirituality Panel

Since CreativeMornings returned to in-person events in May, the event has taken place at local film hub, Kan-Kan Cinema and Brassiere. This month the CreativeMornings team is changing things up. The event will be hosted at Christ Church Cathedral on Friday–fitting for this month’s theme of Spirituality.

If you haven’t yet heard of CreativeMornings, here’s the scoop. CreativeMornings was started in 2008 by Tina Roth Eisenberg based out of Brooklyn, New York. The event is now hosted in 224 cities. The idea is that everyone is creative. Everyone should have their chance to share their take on creativity, no matter what they do every day for money. It’s an early morning event centered around connection, perspective, and coffee. Indianapolis’ host is Ryan Hunley, who always says the audience is filled with stardust and donuts and keeps us all laughing.

Where better to host a creative talk centered around creativity in spiritualism than in the downtown circle’s Episcopal Church? And who better than a stunning group of religious leaders from different faiths to give their take on the topic? This month’s talk is a must see. Get familiar with the featured speakers for this Friday. The Very Rev. Gray Lesesne, Dr. Leah Gunning Francis, Kanwal Prakash (KP) Singh, and Rabbi Brett Krichiver will be discussing their takes on creativity in spirituality.

Lesesne is the Dean and Rector of Christ Church Cathedral. He has “over 20 years of experience in developing and growing communities of faith in the Episcopal Church.” Lesesne aims to be inclusive in his work. He says he uses creativity in his work “to help people create connections with God.” He is passionate about his community uplifting each other.

“Our Cathedral is a safe place and a spiritual refuge for all amid the hustle and bustle of the city,” Lesesne says.

Dr. Gunning Francis is a scholar, preacher, activist and public theologian. She recently released a book, Faith After Ferguson: Resilient Leadership in Pursuit of Racial Justice. KP Singh founded K.P. Singh Designs in 1972, and is a founding member of the Sikh Satsang of Indianapolis, International Center, Asian American Alliance, and Center for Interfaith Cooperation. Rabbi Brett Krichiver is the senior rabbi for Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, which is the largest Jewish community in Indiana. All of the speakers are experts in their field, and will bring diverse perspectives surrounding one of the most mystical and complex ideas for humans: spirituality.

“Spirituality is all about connecting ourselves with that loving, creative, divine spark—whether that is through organized religion, spiritual practices such as yoga, or through our own creative work,” Lesesne says.

The event is free to attend, but register here to save your spot! Mingling and networking starts at 8:30 a.m. accompanied by FREE Tinker Coffee and donuts.
