It’s Nothing If Not a Collaboration

If you stop by on any random Tuesday or Thursday, you’ll find the PATTERN office filled with people. Staff, creative fellows, seasonal interns, and an assortment of visitors all humming away at whatever projects are at hand.

If you stop by on any of the other workdays, odds are good that you’ll just run into me.

While I love the occasional WFH, my heart has always belonged to a team. Even when they’re not physically here, I can still feel that collective buzz. So June’s theme of Collaboration–in my opinion–is about the most natural thing for PATTERN to talk about. Because this place is nothing if not one big ol’ group effort.

This month we’ll learn from Ryan Lott with Son Lux; folks from the CreativeMornings team; local businesses and brands. If we’re lucky, we’ll get a peek behind the collaborative effort that brought the Film Tax Credit to Indiana, and that’s just some of it.

All of these stories highlight how collaboration makes the world go around. And, of course, the stories themselves are their own collaborative effort. Between our in-house and guest contributors, we pull together the interviews, writing, editing, photography, design, and administrative work. We do this for you. And we do this for us.

I’ve lived in the Indy area (minus a few months here and there) for 37 years now. Give me a good gin and tonic and ask me about what the Indianapolis Zoo used to look like, and then listen to me tell you for three hours about the Amazon Rainforest exhibit with the anaconda and piranha that gave way to the electric eels and poison dart frogs.

It’s a very specific way to say that I’ve grown up with Indianapolis.

This city is part of my family, and I’m on the hook to make sure it continues to grow into a home I’m proud of. I believe the work we do here at PATTERN is part of that. Our commitment to the creative economy and the humans who make it possible is central to everything we touch.

Whether it’s the talent development we provide through our internship and fellowship programs or the stories we tell here and in our print publication, this monumental collaboration is for our creative community–this is for you.

We hope you enjoy.

xo,

Jenny
