In the Company of Women: Inspiration and Advice From over 100 Makers, Artists, and Entrepreneurs

This is currently at the top of my wish list. It profiles a diverse range of women, exploring their daily routines and work spaces. What could be better than a book highlighting smart, kick-ass, creative women?

Making Faces

An oldie but goodie. Not only is this book fun to flip through, but I’ve learned so many tips and tricks from it. I revisit it often.

This Ain't No Disco New Wave Album Covers

Combining my love of music, fashion, hair, makeup, and pop culture this book takes a look at over 300 new wave album covers from the late 70s-mid 80s. It’s a great source of inspiration for me as a makeup artist. This was a time when performers knew their look was as important 9
(and in some cases more so) than their music.

The Dogist: Photographic Encounters with 1,000 Dogs

Photographer Elias Weiss Friedman’s social media accounts focusing on pictures of dogs has now expanded to a book. 1,000 pictures of dogs from around the world. Perfect for every dog lover. Sometimes you need to just look at pictures of cute animals and remember the world isn’t all bad.

Absolut Book. The Absolut Vodka Advertising Story.

Another classic. I’m dating myself on this one, but I used to love finding the Absolut ads in magazines and I would pull them out to decorate my dorm room. The Absolut Vodka ads are still considered one of the most successful advertising campaigns of all time. There’s something for everyone in here- travel, fashion, art pop culture. All featuring that iconic bottle.

The Definitive Illustrated Encyclopedia of Rock

My husband is a musician so there’s a lot of music related stuff in our house, but I also use this for inspiration in both my work and personal style. This book is great for just flipping through to look at the pictures, or sitting down to read and learn more about the music that has helped shape our culture.

Rad American Women A-Z: Rebels, Trailblazers, and Visionaries who Shaped Our History...and Our Future!

Technically a children’s book and one I highly recommend you order for all the young ones in your life. It’s available in hard cover and makes a great conversation piece for any coffee table. A is for Angela Davis- the iconic political activist. P is for Patti Smith. X is for the women whose names we don’t know (cue tears).

Harper's Bazaar: Models

It features the top models that have graced the magazine for the last 60 years. Perfect for any fashion lover.

Face Paint: the Story of Makeup

Exploring the art of makeup from the Egyptians, to the Victorian times, to present day and what the future holds. It also takes a look at the social history of women. A must own for any makeup obsessed individual.

The Travel Book: A Journey Through Every Country in the World

Take a look at all 229 countries in the world. It reminds me how big the world really is and ignites my wanderlust. There is always more to see, more to do, and more things in the world to be inspired by.
