“Hamlet” Musical to Hit the Stage with Discovering Broadway, Inc.

Samantha Pauly Jordan Donica Adam Pascal and Bryonha Marie Parham

After the success of its previous workshop presentations, Discovering Broadway Inc. is back with a new retelling of a Shakespearean classic. This August, the cast and creative team of new musical Hamlet will gather in Central Indiana for a weeklong writer’s retreat, the final of the nonprofit’s 2021 season. The workshop will culminate in a presentation of the show’s music on August 20th at 8:00 PM in the Frank and Katrina Basile Theatre at the Indiana Historical Society.

Discovering Broadway Inc. previously hosted retreats for new musicals The Devil Wears Prada in February and Ever After in May.

The production will star Indianapolis native Jordan Donica (My Fair Lady) as the titular character and will feature Samantha Pauly (Six) as Ophelia and Bryonha Marie Parham (Prince of Broadway) as Gertrude. They’ll be joined by Tony nominee Adam Pascal (Rent) as King Claudius.

This retelling of one of Shakespeare’s most famous works features music from a wide variety of artists, including Cody Fry, Gary Fry, Zoe Sarnak, LOLO, Douglas Lyons, Joel Ansett, Amanda D’Archangelis, Anderson Cook, Andrew R. Butler, Jeff Daye, and Abigail and Shaun Bengson.

Discovering Broadway Inc. CEO and founder Joel T. Kirk will direct and provide additional lyrics for the production, a project for which he also serves as book writer. As the presentation’s music director, Kris Kukul will provide arrangements and orchestrations.
