Fall 2012 Trend Report: High Slits

F/W 2012 looks from left to right: Imitation of Christ, Jean Paul Gaultier, Emilio Pucci, Altuzarra, Balmain

Designers unanimously decided that legs were the new erogenous zone of the season. Skirts and dresses were suggestively sliced up to there, in an array of tantalizing fabrics like jewel-toned velvet at Balmain, shiny crocodile at Emilio Pucci and sumptuous satin at Imitation of Christ. However, not all of these slit skirts screamed va va voom; a pretty pastel frock at Jil Sander with narrow double slits was a perfect example of polish, while a lace skirt with a side slit completed a quirky look at Rodarte.

If you want to jump on this trend for fall, I suggest signing up for some Pilates classes, pronto. But while a gorgeous set of gams is a necessary element of this look, please leave the Angelina Jolie pose at home.
