Early 2000’s Trends We Won’t Be Leaving Behind This Decade

With the first few weeks of the new decade already flying by, we thought we’d take a trip down memory lane and review the legendary fashion trends that could make a major comeback in the the new decade.

Britney Spears was one of the most influential style icons of the early 2000’s and nothing screams early 00’s fashion quite like Britney in a Juicy Couture tracksuit carrying a Louis Vuitton Speedy Bag. While Louis Vuitton bags will never go out of style, the tracksuit style has certainly made a comeback.

Britney Spears definitely ruled the early 00’s with this iconic looks. I mean… who else could pull off a full-length denim dress with a matching denim purse? No one. Let’s not forget to credit Britney’s arm-candy, Justin Timberlake, for his contribution to the 2000’s trend with his Canadian Tuxedo and matching denim cowboy hat. While we are hoping Britney’s denim dress never comes back in style, JT’s Canadian Tuxedo already has. Top models Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner have already adopted the style, and we don’t see it fading away any time soon.

Speaking of, former NSYNC pop-star Justin Timberlake has certainly made a name for himself in 2000’s fashion. JT participated in almost all of the 00’s most popular mens fashion trends, including the velvet tracksuits, trucker hats, fedoras and baggy cargo pants. Baggy pants will surely follow us into the new decade and we are not complaining.

Everyone wanted to dress like the Destiny’s Child members in the 00’s, whether they wanted to admit it or not. The tiny tops, abs and low rise jeans scream 2000’s fashion trend. The crop tops and rhinestones will definitely be making it into the next decade, but our team at PATTERN is really hoping the low-rise jean doesn’t follow… we don’t have the abs for all that.

The 2000’s just wouldn’t have been the same without Paris Hilton. The Hilton Hotel Heiress has styled herself in far too many iconic looks like Womens Cocktail Dresses, to only showcase one… so we rounded up our top 3 favorite 00’s looks of hers that could make a comeback.

Coming in at #1, we have Paris in 2002 celebrating her 21st birthday party at the Stork Rooms in London. She wears a chainmail halter dress and rhinestone chocker, paired with dark black smokey eyeshadow-a look so iconic that even Kendall Jenner recreated it for her 21st birthday celebration! While this look has already made one comeback, we see it following into the next decade as well. How could a chainmail dress ever go out of style, right? Not to mention the halter neckline is somehow flattering on every body type.

Paris is the queen of the 2000’s for a reason… here she is rocking almost every early 00’s trend at once: the colored shades, chunky knee-high boots, fishnets, muscle tank, rhinestone choker and mini skirt. This combo would look disastrous on just about anyone else, but somehow Paris makes it a cool and effortless look. We see the colored shades and muscle tank coming back this decade. The chunky heeled boot has already made the comeback and we are living for it.

Another defining moment of the decade was the rise of Kim K., who began her journey to fame as Paris Hilton’s closet organizer and BFF. We have this iconic metallic matching moment to represent the 2000’s love of all things designer thanks to Paris Hilton and her impressive collection of designer handbags. Celebrity matching moments will continue to take place for decades to come and metallic handbags will 100% make an appearance in the 20’s.
