2022 Indy 500: On the Scene

photography by Wil Foster

We were thrilled to be back at the track this year after a two year break! Some 300,000 people were expected to be in attendance, and it sure looked like there was at least that many there if not more. The weather was perfect, the red carpet had a nice mix of celebrities, the pomp and circumstance went off without a hitch, that second flyby gave us some major chills and the Snakepit was suitably filled with throngs of young and wasted, and overflowing trashcans. No injuries were sustained in the race, and it was great to see a newcomer to the Indy 500 champion hall of fame! It was an absolutely epic day in every way. Only one question remains: how do we have days like this – days that drive 100,000+ people – around culture, fashion, art and design?

Photographer Wil Foster helped capture some of the details of the day.
